Consultant on the Middle East
Dr Naeem works as research director at the zenithCouncil, a research and consultancy network.
Until early 2018, Dr Naeem led the Peace Support Programme in Yemen run by Germany’s development agency (GIZ).
As part of this role, he compiled reports and analysis to aid economic and political decision-making.
As a court expert in civil and criminal law who specialises in the Arab region, Dr Naeem also produces reports for courts and administrative bodies in Germany.
Middle East expert in the media
Dr Naeem is sought after by the media for his expertise on political and legal developments in the Middle East.
He has made several appearances in public media, including an episode of Phoenix-Runde, a political talk show: Erdoğan’s Offensive – Powerlessness of the West?
Dr Naeem is also frequently invited to take part in interviews on key issues affecting the Middle East, such as the secret Syrian negotiations.
About
Dr Naeem has taught at the University of Göttingen as well as the Freie Universität Berlin (see teaching activities).
He also lectures at events, such as conferences, as well as for professional associations and has a number of academic engagements.
